The Conversation with Cornelius

The party was woken — Cornelius was up early, having coffee. Kerialalta sat down to talk with him, asking if his crop-burning came from fear that Abundas was gone.

Cornelius held firm: the food doesn't come from Abundas, so it's corrupted, no matter how it tastes or how healthy people are eating it. Kerialalta pushed back — people aren't being harmed, and there seems to be another god out there, one he's heard the voice of. Cornelius dismissed it as "the wrong voice" and rode off, repeating that Abundas will return.

Kerialalta called after him that she never said Abundas was gone.

The Road to the Crossroads

An uneventful travel day following Cornelius's trail. The party reached a crossroads and made camp.

The Woman at the Crossroads

During MX07's watch, a woman arrived at the crossroads — alone except for three dogs that wouldn't leave her alone. The party moved to intervene. Gremm tried to intimidate the dogs off with no luck. Kerialalta, in spider form, rushed one. MX07 dropped the nearest dog with a single critical shot.

The woman was unbothered: "I am not a threat. I am just having a very irritating evening."

Asked who she was: "A scholar. Traveling." She gave no name — "I owe you no explanations or information" — and walked off into the dark with the surviving dogs trailing her, then vanished. The dogs eventually wandered off on their own.

The Glowing Dog

An hour into Gremm's watch, heavy paw-steps approached — a massive, glowing yellow dog. Gremm roused the camp. Kerialalta's tangling needle caught in its fur, but it just barreled through the middle of the group to sniff at Lotus's corgi familiar, knocking out the campfire with its tail in the process. Lotus tried and failed to pull it off.

MX07 tracked its prints for two hours — a perfectly straight line with no discernible origin point — before giving up and returning to camp. The party decided to just bring the dog along and continue toward Goldengrain.

Goldengrain — Chaos at the Tavern

The party arrived to find Goldengrain's tavern in the middle of a full-blown party. Inside, Kerialalta struck up a conversation with the only person not celebrating — an elf at the bar. He claimed to be a smith with no real knowledge of nature (no help on the dog), and when asked why everyone was celebrating, looked around as if noticing the noise for the first time: "They seem to be celebrating something."

In the middle of this, MX07 went berserk and opened fire on anyone in range. A wizard, a fighter, and a catfolk patron fought back and put MX07 down. Kerialalta attempted to heal him, but MX07 resisted the magic and shouted that he'd kill everyone in the tavern before finally going still.

The elf at the bar came over afterward, looked over what was left, and said he could fix him.
